User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Puerto Rico is part of the North American Numbering Plan, telephone country code +1, along with the USA, Canada, and various islands. Puerto Rico uses telephone area codes +1 787 and +1 939 in an area code overlay.

Calls from the US mainland to Puerto Rico are dialed "one plus," and are considered domestic calls, but may or may not be included in "nationwide" calling plans.

(The plus sign means "insert your international access prefix here." From a GSM mobile phone, you can enter the number in full international format, starting with the plus sign. The most common prefix is 00, but Japan uses 010, Australia uses 0011, and many other countries use different prefixes.)

Who named Argentina?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

There is no one person who named Argentina. In the early 1800's (before Argentina became an independent nation) the people of Buenos Aires were called "argentinos" which means people from silver. This is because there is a very large river in Buenos Aires called the Rio de la Plata, "the river of silver." Therefore the people were called "argentinos" because in Latin the word for silver is "argentium."
