Sworn statement of fact or condition, duties or responsibilities, signed by person making the statement, often in the presence of a notary public or another indifferent person. In the case of a will, the testator signs in the presence of two or more witnesses, or before a notary public.

To witness by observation and signature.
Example: Many contracts require a third party to attest to the signing by the principals.
